    The Cisco ASR 5000 Comprehensive Four-Day Technical Training SGSN, GGSN, and EPC Version 12.2 instructor-led course offered by Learning Services provides detailed instruction on how to manage, monitor, configure, and administer the Cisco¬ģ ASR 5000 Series Aggregation Services Router to function as an Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) or Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) in a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network environment. The course also provides instruction on how to configure and monitor the Cisco ASR 5000 Series to function as a Mobility Management Entity (MME) Serving Gateway (SGW) and PDN Gateway (PGW) in an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) network environment. It builds on principals learned in other Cisco ASR 5000 Series-related training.

    Upon completion of this course, you should have a thorough understanding of the following aspects of the platform:

    • Understanding and using the StarOS‚ĄĘ command line interface (CLI)
    • Understanding contexts and context selection processes
    • Performing initial system configuration including administrative users, hardware redundancy, and remote management functions
    • Performing basic configurations for GGSN services
    • Performing basic configurations for 3G and 2G SGSN services
    • Applying software upgrades, session and feature use licenses, and configuration files
    • Configuring bulk statistics and systems/event logging
    • Troubleshooting techniques for both hardware and software
    • Performing basic service configuration for a MME
    • Performing basic service configuration for an SGW
    • Performing basic service configuration of a PGW
    • Monitoring the system for subscriber sessions

    Voraussetzungen

    Following are the prerequisites for this course.

    • Participants must have a thorough understanding of IP routing, networking protocols, and a basic working knowledge of applicable UMTS network operation.

     

    Participant Material Requirements

    Participants are required to bring the following materials to this training course:

    • Laptop or notebook computer with
      • Terminal emulation program (such as PuTTY available at www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) capable of Telnet and Secure Shell (SSH) Protocol
      • IEEE 802.11 (a, b, g, or n) Wi-Fi interface.

    Participants are responsible for all travel and expenses.
